Dress for Success which promotes economic independence for disadvantaged women through a number of avenues recently celebrated its 10th anniversary gala in San Francisco.  Appropriately held at the Julia Morgan ballroom, designed by the eponymous female architect wonder of the 19th century, the sold out event was an inspiring, dazzling evening.    One of over 140 chapters worldwide in 19 countries and 22 U.S. cities, Dress for Success San Francisco has served close to 10,000 women since its inception in 2005.   By providing wardrobes, career development services, and a great support network, Dress for Success helps women who help themselves.

Charles Communications Associates as a team is very active with this chapter. Kimberly Charles serves on the board and Jordan Carmack worked tirelessly as well to help secure silent auction items as well as wrangle clothing donations which are always welcomed.    As a team of professional women at CCA,  we feel great when we can help other women succeed.   We’ve always supported the notion that  we are all stronger when we provide advice, support and encouragement to both colleagues as well as those perhaps not as lucky as we’ve been in the path to our careers.

The evening was a memorable event with a glamorous reception and silent auction followed by a fashion show sponsored by Talbot’s and a delicious meal prepared by the talented chef of the Julia Morgan ballroom.   The keynote speaker was Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide who spoke to the early history of the organization, its mission as well as her own path from the world of law to the world of service.  Niki Leondakis, CEO of Commune Hotels, who was part of the founding team of the San Francisco chapter was the honoree and moving speeches were given by three Bay Area based clients served by the chapter.   It was hard to find a dry eye in the house.
